Dr. Raj Pillay is the strategic engine behind Alpha JVI Group, bringing more than two decades of executive leadership experience across both the public and private sectors. He is a recognised subject matter expert in Audit, Risk Management, Forensic Investigations, Compliance, Ethics, Strategy and Leadership, Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Contract Management.
Throughout his career, Dr. Pillay has held influential management and board positions, contributing significantly to operational transformation, policy development, and sustainable governance. His expertise spans ICT and ICT Governance, Research and Development, Financial Management, Strategic Planning, and organisational performance enhancement.
A certified fraud examiner, ethics officer, and registered assessor, Dr. Pillay has cultivated a profound understanding of the South African economic landscape, legislative frameworks, and governance best practices. His work has strengthened institutional resilience in sectors including finance, insurance, healthcare, banking, local government, and corporate services — previously serving in executive roles at the FirstRand Group and Bidvest Group.
Dr. Pillay holds a Doctorate in Machine Learning and Smart System Creation, a master’s degree in Accounting (Auditing, Taxation & Financial Markets), and additional qualifications in Risk Management, Financial Markets, Life Assurance, Leadership Development, and Control Self-Assessment. He has successfully completed the American board examinations in Certified Risk Management Assurance and is fully certified in Municipal Systems Act compliance.
He is a member of the Institute of Directors in South Africa (IoDSA) and currently serves on the boards of UNIVEN Innovative Growth Company (UIGC), UIGC Financial Services, and Tshitangu Properties. He also chairs the UIGC Group Audit and Risk Committee and contributes as a member of the HR and Finance Committees.
